Flying…
Sometimes you take for granted the days you have on this earth. A friend sent me this story, JetBlue Flight.
Thank god those people landed safely. I travel by plane frequently throughout the year to visit friends and family. Last thursday night, I was on a plane to visit my family in Florida and to meet up with Jeremy and Jessica.
The plane started up usual...
But when we took off there was a loud buzzing noise and then shortly after that the plane got quiet and we started diving. It only lasted (I think) 20 seconds but I looked over to my left (I had the window seat) and the woman next to me stared back. We were speechless.
We just kept staring...
What else could we do but sit there silent wondering what was going on. I stopped breathing looking out hoping for some sign as to why the plane was dipping.
Could another plane be close and we were avoiding it?
The pilot turned to the left and the right. We continued to stare. I looked out through the window and saw nothing. It was a 9pm flight. When he straightened the plane it continued to make the same strange noise. About 15 minutes later the flight attendent came by and offered drinks, the lady next to me ordered her wine. I was happy that we landed safely and I could toast to another day.
Friends since childhood
Last week, I heard from my friend Allison, who I've known since I was 12 years old. She called to tell me that our friend Richard O., had committed suicide. Richard was goofy, smart and cynical but heck aren't we all. He was always bouncing around trying to stir up a little trouble but nothing earth shattering, that's how I remember Richard. I hadn't seen him in a while. It shocked me and left me speechless. I asked when the funeral was since I was going to be in town. His family had a private funeral and there was a memorial being held for him at the college he attended. Allison called to ask me for some other contacts of our childhood friends and I started calling around.
My friend Stephanie...
Is also another friend I've known since I was 12. She knew by my tone that bad news was coming her way. We all started asking why...what could be so bad? Hopefully, we will never have to find out. Farewell, Richard I hope you are in a better place.
And for all those friends out there still...
you are in my thoughts and prayers.
