How to illustrate a bow

Drawing…

The requirement was to have a ribbon packaging background.
I created the ribbon by taking a picture of a bow I made.

Then you start outlining the shape in Illustrator or Photoshop. I used photoshop in this case since it wasn’t that complicated.

Then I added gradient shading to the bow.

The final design…with the bow:

Note the bow is around 80k

Optimized Bow

Bow at 28k

Note the bow is under 28k (requirement) the bow is blurred in the middle to reduce and by the time the page loads over it looks like it is a progressive loading graphic to the user.

This is very helpful for me because i usually never use the gradient tool. Am i late or what? haha
