The Adventures of Cindy Li
Post-Superhero panel: Being a kind soulto everyone Andy Budd Said so!
March 12 , 2006
Listening to..
Andy Budd in the superhero talk.. he discussed being nice to people, speaking to people you don’t know, even if they aren’t some “known” blogger/speaker/designer/developer or aka HUMAN BEINGS…they are still worth talking to.
Chat with everyone…
Everyone is doing something cool and worth listening to. I sat there thinking…for half a second, I fully agreed. I met a developer that introduced himself but right after said, “I’m nobody.” How horrible I thought, and told him right away that he needed to not say that. I felt like the Saturday Night Live skit, Stuart Smalley, “You are somebody, and people do like you.” Sadly though I knew what he meant. I work at AOL that’s my day job, at night a swing dancer as soon as my knee is better. Enter a design conference and tell people you work at AOL…watch people scowl. Yes, I work for the mass producer the McDonald’s of the internet BUT!! I work with amazing people. I know some CSS thanks to Patrick Griffiths. You never know who you will learn something from. Possibily a little humility :)
So guys and gals.. play nice :)
Cause right now I have a cane. :D
