Sweet Dreams Uncle Timothy

November 30 , 2006

Once upon a time

I grew up in Jacksonville, FL. I went to church the local Chinese church like a good little girl. My youth leader Uncle Timothy (not a relative, it is out of respect, maybe an Asian thing) did his best to teach us and be better human beings. He’s what you would want as a youth leader, always joking around and positive. He even went as far as trying to teach us COBOL while I was in high school.  I know some of you are wondering what that is. Honestly, I have no idea still. :)

Sweet Dreams

I found out in late September that he had been diagnosed with cancer and moved to California (UCLA) to participate in the clinical trials. I spoke to him last then. He told me about how he was still praying for me even when I wasn’t around and that he hoped one day to hear happy news. He was happy to hear from me and wanted to catch up. I kept meaning to call again but I didn’t. Unfortunately, yesterday he lost his fight with cancer. My mother said that the funeral will be in California where the rest of his family is.  He leaves behind his wife and baby daughter. Sweet dreams Uncle Timothy and strength to all of us left behind.
