Testing out the AOL Uncut Video

July 6 , 2006

Once upon a time...

Four women (Me, Veerle, Pernilla, and Ms. Jen) were standing around discussing langugages and what “coffee” sounded like in Taiwanese, Dutch, Swedish and English while waiting for the Trooping of the Colours in London, England. One of the women worked at AOL and decided to post it on the new community video application called Uncut Video (it’s in BETA).  This was recorded using my Canon A95.

Testing....

You can even rate it if you want to....

You can check it out here: Uncut Video

Ok so for comparison I uploaded it to YouTube. The quality is worse. :( Here’s the actual page link on You Tube.

Nice to see all you 3.. 4, on a video :)

But the Uncut doesn’t work too good, in Firefox for example, the video isn’t cached.

Hmm, in Firefox w/FlashPlayer7 on Linux I get no video, only sound for the uncut version.  The YouTube one works as expected.  Of course I’m sure I’m not their target market…

You are right the quality seems worse =(. Another thing is different is the autoplay feature in Uncut video is on, which is nice so you don’t to go thru the extra effort of clicking “Play” for lazy folk like me… but becomes problematic if you have several videos on one page.

The auto play could be an issue for those at work as well.  They may click on a post but not expect audio to come blasting out of their speakers soon as the page loads.  Could be a problem for some users at work, then again, maybe they should be surfing the web on company time ;-).

Nice! Good quality. One thing....is it me, or can you not edit your tags after creation?

You guys are kicking ass these days. Keep up the great work!

Yeah.I contacted a couple people. I was annoyed by that cause sometimes… people make typos. ;) So that is something the group is working on. I’ll let the people know to keep it up ;)
